Degree and area of specialization:
DVM or equivalent from an AVMA accredited veterinary school or college
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum one year post-DVM qualification with experience in food animal practice and outreach activity. Experience and success in grant writing would be advantageous.
Under the direction of the Food Armor Foundation Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the Food Armor program – an industry leading education and certification program focused on enhancing antimicrobial stewardship https://www.foodarmor.org, and for implementing approaches that will continue to keep Food Armor relevant into the future.
The Executive Director oversees continuing education (CE) opportunities, stakeholder relationships, ongoing USDA grant obligations and marketing communications. Additionally, the Executive Director works with contracted parties to ensure the CE provided is relevant and meets appropriate standards for approval. The Executive Director serves as the primary spokesperson for Food Armor with the veterinary medical profession, allied groups, and industry stakeholders.
The Executive Director protects the organization’s financial assets while ensuring compliance with grant requirements, Board directives, and all federal and state requirements.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for, and knowledge of antimicrobial stewardship across all food animal species. They must be able to multi-task and exhibit a strong ability to work independently. They will be responsible for managing the finances of the Food Armor program and soliciting funding through grant support, sponsorship and online user registrations. Good communication skills will be essential in the delivery of lectures and workshops and the preparation of online materials for students, veterinary practitioners and other industry participants.

This position requires some travel and evening and weekend commitments. This remote position offers potential for program and staff growth.
