FREE Food Armor Training Opportunity

November 4-5 • Madison, WI • RACE Approved CE credits

Supported by a USDA grant, this in-person program aims to:

1) Educate veterinary students and veterinarians specifically in the areas of food safety, responsible drug use and antimicrobial stewardship in animal agriculture.

2) Provide attendees with skills to support a sustainable business model that can be used to enhance veterinary services in rural areas through implementation of learned concepts.

This opportunity is open to all veterinarians, with preference given to veterinary students and graduate veterinarians less than 15 years into practice. Attendees will receive a travel stipend to come to Madison, WI to participate in a full day Phase I training session, and have the option of a second, half day Phase II training session. Better yet, a limited number of attendees ALSO have the option of extending their stay in Wisconsin to participate in a Mastermind workshop hosted by the WVMA. If you are interested in also attending a Mastermind session at the same time as the Food Armor training, make sure to mark the box on your application. There is also an additional travel stipend available for individuals looking to participate in the Mastermind.


Thursday, November 4th, 2021

9am to 5pm Training

Learn all the Food Armor concepts and start putting those skills to practice. Sessions will include presentations, active discussions, application of concepts and group work. CE provided by the WVMA and is also pending RACE approval.

30 total spots available- Open to all but preference will be given to veterinary students and graduates out less than 15 years.

Friday, November 5th, 2021

8am to 12pm Training

This session is optional for those participants interested in offering Food Armor certification to their clients. Requirements for certification for the program will be covered through presentations and active discussion. Even if one doesn’t plan on offering certification, this session can help the participant apply the concepts to real-life settings. CE provided by the WVMA and is also pending RACE approval.

Open to all those that participate in Thursday’s Phase I training. 

Friday November 5th, 2021 or Saturday, November 6th, 2021

Friday 2pm to 7pm or Saturday, 7am to 12pm

Mastermind programs are used by professionals in a variety of industries and through a USDA Grant, the WVMA is bringing it to the veterinary profession for FREE. 

Up to 10 participants of the Food Armor training may participate in a collaborative program hosted by the WVMA. If interested, visit this website to learn about what a Mastermind is and make sure to mark the box on your application.

The in-person meetings will be held at the Madison Concourse Hotel in downtown Madison.

  • Car Travel

  • $375
  • If traveling by car, each participant will receive a $375 stipend to offset hotel and fuel costs.
  • Airline Travel

  • $650
  • If traveling by airplane, each participant will receive $650 to offset airline and hotel costs.
